When do I need floor levelling compound?
Almost every flooring installation needs some level of subfloor prep. Specifically:

Concrete subfloor with dips or surface defects: Stopgap 1200 Pro

Plywood or chipboard subfloor: Stopgap 500 Micro for fine smoothing

Localised damage (cracks, holes, broken corners): Stopgap 400 Repair

Before any glue-down LVT installation: subfloor must be primed (P131 or P141) + smoothed
Why subfloor prep matters
The visible bumps and dips in your subfloor will telegraph through LVT, laminate, and vinyl over time. A 1mm dip becomes a visible plank shadow. A 3mm bump becomes a wear point that fails first. Levelling compound flattens the subfloor before installation, extending floor life dramatically.
Coverage and mixing
Stopgap 1200 Pro: ~3kg per m² at 1mm depth. So a 20kg bag covers ~7m² at 1mm or ~3.5m² at 2mm. Mix per F-Ball instructions, pour and trowel within working time.
