Carpet gripper holds the edges of a suitable stretch-fit carpet. Not every carpet installation uses gripper: the backing, substrate and fitting method determine what is needed.

Choose the correct fixing

Check the product's wood, concrete or other specified fixing type, strip width, pin configuration and supplied pack length. Do not select a nail length from a general rule about shorter pins. Ask your installer to confirm the substrate and safe fixing method, including any concealed services or underfloor heating.

Plan quantities and perimeter details

Use the room layout and actual areas requiring gripper, allowing for doorways, transitions and cutting. Set the wall gap, fixing method and pin orientation to the carpet and gripper manufacturers' instructions rather than a universal distance.
