Why LVT herringbone instead of real wood parquet?

Real wood herringbone parquet runs £80-150 per square metre for a quality oak. LVT herringbone gives you the same laying pattern, the same wood look, and stronger water resistance for a fraction of the price. The 2mm Style Parquet planks click into a herringbone pattern with a glue-down installation, and each pack covers 1.86 square metres.

Compared to herringbone laminate flooring, LVT herringbone is fully water-resistant (laminate is not), softer and warmer underfoot, and quieter to walk on. Compared to herringbone vinyl rolls (sometimes called herringbone lino), individual LVT planks give you a cleaner look at the joins and last significantly longer.

Installation: how to lay herringbone LVT

Style Parquet LVT is glue-down installation. You need:

  • F-Ball Styccobond F44 LVT adhesive (we stock it, browse adhesives)
  • A notched spreader trowel (A2 or B1 notch typical)
  • A flat, dry, level subfloor (if needed, F-Ball Stopgap floor levelling compound)
  • A sharp utility knife or LVT cutter
  • A tape measure, chalk line, and patience

Herringbone flooring FAQ

Is LVT herringbone waterproof?

Style Parquet LVT is water-resistant but not fully waterproof. It handles spills, mopping, and high humidity (bathrooms, kitchens) without warping. For full waterproof herringbone, look at Polyflor Camaro Rigid Core herringbone (SPC click, 5mm) or our Karndean Van Gogh herringbone options.

Can I lay LVT herringbone over underfloor heating?

Yes. Style Parquet is suitable for use with underfloor heating systems up to 27°C surface temperature. Check the spec sheet on each colour for exact compatibility.

What's the difference between herringbone and chevron?

Herringbone planks meet at 90-degree right angles to form a zigzag pattern. Chevron planks are cut at 45-degree angles so they meet at a point, creating a V-shaped pattern. Both look stunning. Style Parquet is herringbone format.

How many boxes do I need for my room?

Each Style Parquet box covers 1.86 m². Measure your room length × width to get the area in m², add 10% for cutting wastage, divide by 1.86, round up to the nearest box. Example: 4m × 3m room = 12 m², plus 10% = 13.2 m², divide by 1.86 = 7.1 boxes, so order 8 boxes.
