• Attraction Herringbone from £19.78/m². 2.5mm, 0.55mm dry-back, 22 colours. Much the widest choice of shades, with a wear layer that copes with kitchens, hallways and light commercial.
• Impression Parquet from £24.55/m². 2.5mm, 0.55mm wear layer, 8 colours. Deeper embossing and a more convincing grain than Attraction at the same durability class.
• Grande Parquet from £28.94/m². 2.5mm, 0.7mm commercial wear layer, 8 colours. Our toughest herringbone. The one to specify for shops, offices and busy hallways.

Why LVT herringbone instead of real wood parquet?

Solid oak herringbone parquet runs £80 to £150 per square metre. LVT herringbone gives you the same laying pattern, the same wood look and far better water resistance, starting at £15.22. It is the single biggest saving available anywhere in flooring for the same visual result.

Against herringbone laminate, LVT is water-resistant where laminate is not, and it is softer, warmer and quieter underfoot. Against herringbone vinyl rolls, sometimes sold as herringbone lino, individual planks give a cleaner join and last considerably longer.

How this compares to the premium brands

Karndean Art Select herringbone sits around £64.84/m² on a 0.55mm wear layer. Grande Parquet is £28.94/m² on 0.7mm. Same pattern, same format, a thicker wear layer, at well under half the price. Order a free sample of each and judge them side by side on your own floor.

Be careful comparing on price alone though. Style Parquet at £15.22 is a 0.3mm residential floor, so the fair comparison there is Karndean Knight Tile, not Art Select. Match the wear layer before you match the price.

Which wear layer do I need?

• 0.3mm for bedrooms, lounges and normal domestic footfall
• 0.55mm for kitchens, hallways, pets and children, and light commercial
• 0.7mm for retail, offices, waiting rooms and anywhere mopped daily

How to lay herringbone LVT

Every range on this page is glue-down. You will need:

• F-Ball Styccobond F44 LVT adhesive, in our adhesives range
• A notched spreader trowel, A2 or B1 notch
• A flat, dry, level subfloor. F-Ball Stopgap levelling compound if it is not
• A sharp utility knife or an LVT cutter
• A tape measure, a chalk line and some patience

Herringbone is less forgiving than plank. Mark a true centre line, set the pattern out from there, and dry-lay the first few rows before you commit any adhesive. Oak, grey and light wood herringbone

Across the four ranges there are 43 shades, so most briefs are covered. For oak herringbone, look at the Natural and Elm shades in Style Parquet, or English Oak and Royal Oak in Attraction. For grey herringbone, try French Grey or Havana Grey Oak in Attraction, Winter Grey in Impression, or Smoked Grey Oak in Grande Parquet. For light and blonde tones, Birch in Style Parquet and Artic Oak in Attraction are the closest.

Herringbone flooring FAQ

Is LVT herringbone waterproof?

It is water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. It handles spills, mopping and high humidity without warping. For a fully waterproof herringbone, look at Polyflor Camaro Rigid Core herringbone or Karndean Van Gogh.

Can I lay herringbone LVT over underfloor heating?

Yes, up to a 27°C subfloor surface temperature. Check the spec on the individual product page.

What is the difference between herringbone and chevron?

Herringbone planks meet at 90 degree right angles to form a zigzag. Chevron planks are cut at 45 degrees so they meet at a point, forming a V. Everything on this page is herringbone.

How many boxes do I need?

Box coverage varies by range, so check the product page. Style Parquet covers 2.11m² per box and Grande Parquet 1.36m². Measure the room, add 10% for cutting waste, divide by the box coverage and round up. Herringbone generates more offcuts than plank, so 10% is a minimum rather than a generous allowance.
