Karndean vs Amtico: Compare Designs, Specifications and Cost

Karndean and Amtico both offer luxury vinyl flooring, but comparing the brand names alone will not identify the best floor for your room. Compare the exact range, product code, design, fitting format and complete project price. One brand is not automatically better, longer-lasting or cheaper across every collection.

Start with the design you want

Compare samples beside your units, paint and furniture, in both daylight and evening light. Look at colour variation, grain or stone pattern, surface texture, edges and plank or tile proportions. If you want herringbone, borders or a particular laying pattern, confirm that the chosen product and size support that design.

Do not assume the ranges are equivalent

Here are some manufacturer-published examples:

Spacia should therefore not be described as having the same 0.3mm wear layer as the Knight Tile example. Equally, these measurements alone do not establish equal performance between two products or predict an exact lifespan. Read each product's use classification, room suitability and current warranty.

Confirm the fitting format

Compare gluedown with gluedown, or the exact click products you are considering. Karndean Knight Tile and Van Gogh include more than one fitting format, so a range name alone is not enough. An adhesive recommendation for one product must not be carried over automatically to another.

Compare a complete quotation

Ask each supplier for the exact product, pack quantity, current price and availability. Add preparation, adhesive or specified backing, fitting, trims, delivery and any uplift or disposal. Check the VAT treatment and exclusions so that both totals cover the same job.

Warranty and aftercare

Read the current terms for the exact range and intended use before purchasing. Check installation conditions, exclusions, registration requirements and the supplier's process if something goes wrong. A stated warranty period is not a promise of how many years a floor will last in every home.

Availability of replacement designs can change. If continuity matters, discuss batch consistency and appropriate spare material when placing the initial order rather than relying on a promise of future stock.

Include own-brand alternatives if you are flexible
