Best Vinyl Flooring UK 2026: LVT, SPC Click and Sheet Vinyl Picks at Trade Prices

The best vinyl flooring depends on the room, the subfloor and the way it will be used. Vinyl includes individual luxury vinyl tiles and planks as well as sheet products. Those categories contain different constructions and installation systems, so compare exact products rather than choosing a format as an automatic winner.

Compare the formats

  • Glue-down LVT: individual planks or tiles bonded to a prepared base. Useful to consider when comparing laying patterns, borders and individual design elements.
  • Click vinyl: planks or tiles with locking joints. Check the core construction, expansion requirements and approved underlay. Click is not another name for SPC.
  • Sheet vinyl: supplied in roll widths. Check the backing, room suitability and specified fixing and jointing method. Domestic cushion flooring and specialist commercial safety flooring are not interchangeable.

Use product-specific room approvals

For kitchens and bathrooms, check the complete installation details. A waterproof plank or sheet does not make every joint and edge waterproof, or create a suitable shower or wet-room system. Commercial and safety-flooring projects need the exact use and slip-resistance specification, with the required preparation and jointing method.

Do not select a commercial product on its brand name alone. For example, Polyflor Expona Commercial PUR is an LVT plank/tile range, not sheet vinyl. Our Polyflor range guide distinguishes the main product families.

Check the base and installation requirements

All formats need a suitable base. Ask your installer to assess moisture, flatness and movement before choosing a preparation system. For click products, check whether backing is integrated or a separate underlay is required. For sheet vinyl, use the manufacturer's fixing and seam instructions rather than assuming every domestic product needs heat-welded joints.

Heated floors, conservatories and strong sunlight require specific compatibility checks. Use the current product instructions and do not assume one general temperature limit applies to every vinyl product.

Compare quantities and complete costs

For tiles and planks, add an agreed cutting allowance to the measured area and round up using the exact pack coverage. For sheet vinyl, calculate the required roll width and cut length, allowing for the room shape, pattern matching and any joins. The measured room area alone may not equal the quantity you need to buy.

Include preparation, fitting, adhesive or approved underlay, trims, delivery and removal. Check current listing prices and their units instead of relying on fixed price tiers in an article.

Shortlist by design and documented performance

Compare use classification, wear layer, surface finish, dimensions, warranty conditions and maintenance. No single measurement guarantees scratch resistance or service life. For a practical starting point, use our LVT buying checklist and click-vinyl guide, then request samples to check colour and texture at home.
