Planning your subfloor

Confirm that your existing substrate and chosen LVT or sheet vinyl permit this overlay construction. Plywood is not a cure for damp, unstable floorboards or structural movement, and this thin overlay should not be treated as a structural deck spanning joists.

How many sheets do I need?

Divide the area by 2.97m², allow for the room layout, cuts and waste, then round up to whole sheets. As an example, 20m² with a 10% allowance requires 8 sheets. Your installer should confirm the final quantity.

Installation guidance

Follow the current Hanson SP101 fitting guide for substrate checks, conditioning, layout and fixings. Hanson specifies maximum fixing centres of 100mm around the perimeter and 150mm within the sheet, with perimeter fixings 12mm from the edge. Agree any further surface preparation and adhesive requirements with the installer and floor-covering manufacturer.
