Herringbone & Parquet LVT Flooring: The Complete Guide
Herringbone and parquet floors are having a moment — and luxury vinyl is the easiest, most affordable way to get the look.
Herringbone vs chevron vs parquet
Herringbone is the classic interlocking zig-zag of rectangular planks set at 90°. Chevron cuts the plank ends at an angle so they meet in a continuous V. Parquet is the broader term for geometric wood-block patterns. Most LVT ranges offer herringbone, and it's the most popular by far.
Glue-down or click?
For the most authentic, seamless parquet floor, glue-down is the standard — the planks sit flat and tight, and a skilled fitter gets crisp, even joints. Click parquet also exists and is more DIY-friendly, though the look is best on a very flat subfloor. Browse the full herringbone & parquet range.
Where it works
Hallways and living rooms love a herringbone floor — it draws the eye and adds period character. It works beautifully in kitchens too, thanks to LVT's water resistance.
Planning tips
Herringbone uses more material in cuts, so add 15–20% wastage (see our measuring guide). Decide your direction early — herringbone is usually run down the length of a hallway or toward the main window. Order free samples and lay a few planks out before you buy to picture the finished pattern.
