Laminate Flooring Installation Guide
Introduction
Welcome to the Flooring Wholesale Laminate Flooring Installation Guide! This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing laminate flooring, ensuring a professional and durable finish. Whether you’re a tradesman or a DIY enthusiast, follow these steps for success.
Tools and Materials You’ll Need
- Tape measure
- Utility knife
- Laminate flooring planks
- Underlay
- Spacers
- Saw (circular or jigsaw)
- Rubber mallet
- Chalk line
- Cleaning cloths
Preparation
1. Acclimating the Laminate
Allow the laminate planks to acclimate to the room’s temperature and humidity for at least 48 hours before installation.
2. Subfloor Preparation
Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. Remove any old flooring, nails, or debris.
3. Layout Planning
Measure the room and mark the starting point using a chalk line for a straight and even layout.
Installation
1. Laying the Underlay
Roll out the underlay and secure it in place. Overlap the edges slightly for full coverage.
2. Installing the First Row
Start at one corner of the room, placing spacers between the wall and the planks to allow for expansion. Click the planks together using the locking system.
3. Completing the Floor
Continue installing each row, ensuring the joints are staggered for stability. Trim the last row to fit using a saw.
Finishing Touches
Remove the spacers and install skirting boards or beading to cover the expansion gap. Clean the floor with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris.
